Participants receive access to a comprehensive toolkit of materials, templates and guides required to be an exceptional instructional designer. Participants use the toolkit as a self-paced resource to design and develop their own learning program. For completion, an instructional design and technology certificate course edx is awarded.
The toolkit contains detailed ‘How-to’ Guides, worked examples and templates, based on Instructional Design Australia (IDA) and Discover Learning Designs (DLD) commercial practice that draws on the five phases of the ADDIE model Instructional Design process:
- Analyse
- Design
- Develop
- Implement
- Evaluate
Watch the video below to learn about DLD’s approach to using the ADDIE model.
Do You Need An Instructional Design Degree?
Unlike some industries you don’t necessarily need a qualification or licence to become an Instructional Designer.
However, in order to develop effective learning programs, you should have a strong understanding of the key elements and theory that underpin the instructional design process – including how to conduct a learning needs analysis (LNA), adult learning principles and assessment strategies.
An IDA or DLD course will help you to develop this knowledge and understanding.

Who Are The Courses For?
Our edx instructional design courses in Hobart as well as the toolkit is suited to both those who are new to Instructional Design and those seeking to refine or specialise their skills.
Importantly, each course gives the participants a license to use the included Instructional Design templates in perpetuity.
Instructional Design Courses Outcomes
By the end of the course, participants will not only have learned about Instructional Design, they will have applied the knowledge and skills to create their own set of learning materials using edx educational technology.
