What is edX?

EdX is a global nonprofit organisation offering access to high-quality education without the barriers of cost or location. It is an online learning platform co-founded by Harvard and MIT. The idea is that learning can be accessed from anywhere around the world by breaking down the walls of the classroom though online learning. EdX offers a wealth of courses in subjects including computer science, language, business & management, engineering, and of course education.

We’ve had good feedback from people who have accessed learning from the edX platform. There are a range of courses available in the subject of Education, particularly in Educational Technology, and they are available via the edX website or the mobile app. This is great way to advance your career by developing the expertise that employers are looking for. It’s also an opportunity to access education from top institutions from around the world including Harvard, MIT, Berkeley and Microsoft to name a few.

Does Discover Learning Designs offer Instructional Design courses?

Discover Learning Designs offers a range of courses for those wanting to advance their skills in the field of Instructional Design. These courses are not available on edX but you can read more about them including how to enrol here.

The Instructional Design Australia (IDA) and Discover Learning Designs (DLD) teams created the following three courses to suit different needs.

These course are born from our commercial practice and were developed in response to the demand for short, practical and affordable instructional design courses. They provide access to our instructional design tools and templates as well as coaching from experienced Instructional Designers for real-world advice and feedback.

What tools and templates are included in DLD’s Instructional Design courses?

Participants of Discover Learning Designs instructional design courses receive access to a comprehensive toolkit of instructional design templates, materials and guides to assist in the development of engaging and learner-centric programs. The materials are developed based on proven instructional design models and theories. A popular and widely-used instructional model you may have heard of or used before is the ADDIE model. The ADDIE model is one of the leading instructional design models used in the industry today and comprises of five key phases:

  5. Evaluate
